Tuning variator from the Malossi tuning forge: Malossi MHR Team 2 aluminium variator Piaggio ZIP / NRG Piaggio for Piaggio and Aprilia (with Piaggio engine), suitable for Malossi C-One, Polini PRE and TPR crankcases.
Malossi engineers have done their best to eliminate the problems that typically occur with tuning variators: sticking of the Vario sleeve, slipping of the belt, inefficient power transmission to the wheel, deformation of the components, non-optimal synchronization and stability of the transmission ratio.
This is a self-lubricating variator, and the components on the sleeve must be able to slide smoothly and steadily; any deformation would be a major disadvantage. For this reason, Malossi uses hardened steel bushings, ground inside and out to offer even less resistance. The grease in the bushing is evenly distributed through two oil seals. All this results in minimal friction and therefore efficient power transmission to the rear wheel and maximum power development.
The 22 mm variator bushing also features small perforations through which grease can pass from the inside to the outside to ensure optimal lubrication. This optimal lubrication film has allowed us to further reduce the design tolerances of the other components and therefore design and optimize them with greater precision.
The moving half has a diameter of 99.5 mm and is cast in a special aluminum alloy. The contact surface between the pulley and the V-belt is diamond-ground to ensure a constant coefficient of friction, preventing the belt from slipping and wearing out too quickly.
The supply includes:
- Variator complete with 22 mm bushing
- Belt pulley / fan wheel
- 2x set of variator weights 19x15.5mm (3.8g and 4.3g)
- Counterpressure spring purple (Art.-No. M298324.V)
- 1 tube of MHR grease
