Malossi MHR TEAM 2 Internal Rotor Ignition
If you're serious about maximizing performance, you can't go without an internal rotor ignition. The rotor is lighter and its centered mass makes the engine much more agile on the throttle and revs faster.
A must for top-level racing
The Malossi MHR Team 2 ignition is a high-end racing ignition system that combines the latest technologies with Malossi's know-how and many years of racing experience. In developing this ignition system, Malossi addressed some of the problems that tuners faced with older racing ignitions.
This high-end ignition not only allows you to switch between curves, but also adjust the selected ignition curve by +/- 2° with a simple click. The new CDI is now even more resistant to interference and features an 8-bit STM8 uP-based microprocessor with a computing power of over 20 MIPS (million instructions per second); the ignition timing can therefore be set even more precisely than with the previous model.
The included CDI allows for dynamic ignition timing. Dynamic (or variable) means that the ignition timing is adjusted based on engine speed (rpm) for optimal performance.
Basic functions of the Malossi MHR Team 2 CDI:
- MAPS: ignition curve/map selection
- OFFSET: adjustment of the selected curve by + - 2° (0.5° tolerance)
- LIM: Mainly for 4-stroke engines: Adjustment (from 11,500 to 14,300 rpm) or deactivation of the rev limiter, 16 positions
You can choose between 8 preset ignition curves:
- 2-stroke: 6 preset maps with dynamic ignition advance
- 4-stroke: 1 preset map with dynamic ignition advance
- General: 1 map with fixed ignition advance
MHR Team 2: New and Improved
Malossi has overhauled the MHR Team's ignition, choosing top-quality components. The new high-voltage coil has a maximum discharge of 40KV for speeds above 3,000 rpm and a sensational rise time of @10bar > 1750 V/uS. The rotor and stator have also been improved, making the entire basic ignition design even more stable and efficient; mechanically and electronically, the rotor and stator now work together even better.
The electrical output of the Team 2 ignition has been improved by 20%, the minimum starting speed has been reduced from 450 to 370 rpm, the stator is 30% lighter (- 100 g).
Is it worth buying?
If you're wondering whether this high-end ignition, which isn't exactly cheap, is worth purchasing if you're serious about tuning and racing, we can answer with an unequivocal yes. Increasing the ignition spark voltage at very low revs will give you the decisive edge in winning future races.
Note: As with most internal rotor ignitions, power for lights etc. is omitted.
